Authorities investigating drive-by shooting that injured a 20-year-old

An unknown vehicle approached the victim and fired at him, which sparked an arduous investigation by the authorities. Although more than 8 hours passed after the shooting this Sunday, the police perimeter was still active.

According to the authorities, the incident that left a 20-year-old man injured occurred at 2522 Northwest with 80th Street in the West Little River sector, from where the car from which they allegedly fired fled.

When officers responded to the scene, they found the victim badly injured and had to be transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital in critical condition.

A neighbor said he heard several continuous gunshots and what seemed to come from an automatic weapon, possibly more than a dozen shots in total.

It is also known that a residence where there were people inside was hit by bullets but fortunately no one inside was injured.

This afternoon several relatives met at the scene who said they were too moved to speak on camera.

The motive for the shooting is still under investigation, while police are awaiting an update on what happened.
