The country’s Ministry of the Environment has announced a two-day ban on bathing, diving and other water sports between Gouna and Soma Bay.

A Tiger shark has killed a 24-year-old Russian citizen this Thursday in the Egyptian city of Hurghada, on the shores of the Red Sea, as reported by the country’s Ministry of the Environment.

The Egyptian authorities are already investigating the incident and have explored the waters of the perimeter to secure the area, according to the newspaper ‘Ahram Online’.

After that, the ministry has decreed a ban on bathing, diving and other water sports of two days between Gouna and Soma Bay, which is in line with international protocols and which will be effective from this Friday.

In addition, Environment Minister Yasmine Fouad has urged residents and tourists to comply with the instructions to “guarantee one’s own safety.”

The latest of these attacks in Egypt, which generally occur during the mating seasonto and egg laying according to a report by the Hurghada Environmental Conservation and Protection Association, it occurred three years ago, when a Ukrainian boy lost an arm and an Egyptian guide lost his leg.
