Present during the mobilization against the construction of the highway, the elected EELV rose up against a “completely outdated” project and called for “changing our mobility methods”.

“A project from another time, a project from the 80s and 90s”, denounced Sandrine Rousseau about the construction of the A69 motorway in the Tarn. She was questioned on BFMTV during the mobilization this Saturday against the project.

MP EELV protested against a “completely outdated project”.

“We are talking about the destruction of biodiversity, we are talking about global warming that is getting out of control,” lamented the member of Nupes. According to her, the construction of the highway is “not reasonable”.

“The danger is the road”

The elected also called for freedom from a “productivist system that puts us in danger” and to build “a new model of society”. Sandrine Rousseau deplored a “dangerous project, ecologically but also socially”.

“We will have to change our mobility methods,” added the ecologist. “There is absolutely no need for a motorway. (…) This is to make us believe that this is the future, but this is not the future at all”.

Asked about the authorities’ fears about the construction of a ZAD and possible violence from demonstrators, Sandrine Rousseau welcomed a “family, joyful and enthusiastic demonstration”.

“We’ll see what happens. The danger is not us, the danger is the road,” she concluded.
