Aaron Martín is apparently leaving Mainz 05 in the summer. According to Fabrizio Romano, the 25-year-old left-back will not extend his expiring contract. Mainz had previously tried for months to expand the cooperation.
How things will continue for Aaron is open. A free transfer opens many doors for the Spaniard. Most recently, Torino FC and Bologna FC were interested. But according to Romano, Aaron also has options in the Bundesliga and La Liga.
Mainz had signed Aarón in the summer of 2019 for six million euros from Espanyol Barcelona. In the first half of 2021, the former junior international was loaned to Celta Vigo in Spain. After his return, Aaron regained his regular position, which he had lost in the meantime. Most recently, however, he was on the bench in three Bundesliga games in a row.
