The Herner Eissportverein starts in the final phase of the main round in the Oberliga Nord. Direct playoff participation is still possible.

The Herner Eissportverein starts the last two weekends of the Oberliga Nord main round 2023/24 with the derby against the Moskitos Essen, which begins on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 8 p.m. in the Hannibal Arena on Gysenberg. Four games are still on the schedule for the Miners, three of which will be played at home.

In the meantime, the Herner EV has had a real rollercoaster season. Good performances were always followed by significantly weaker games, so that the team had to fight hard for a direct place in the playoffs. The IceFighters from Leipzig are the direct competitor here. However, the HEV is almost certain of seventh place, so that there is home advantage in possible pre-playoffs.

On Friday, February 24, the fourth meeting of the season against the Moskitos from Essen will take place in the Hannibal Arena on Gysenberg. The HEV won the first three duels. Most recently, at the end of December, there was a sovereign 5-2 win in front of over 2500 spectators in the home hall. The last encounter this season brings even more explosiveness with it, as former HEV trainer Danny Albrecht is now in charge of the Moskitos gang.

On the following Sunday, February 26, more than 300 Tilburg Trappers fans announced that they would be taking part in their joint fan trip to Herne this year and loudly supporting their team there. Also on the last day of the game, a league heavyweight comes to the Gysenberg. The Hanover Scorpions, sovereign main round champions and clear favorites for promotion, can also hope for a lot of support from Lower Saxony.

For ice hockey fans, the last three main round home games of the Miners are certainly dates that should be marked in the calendar.

The dates for the playoffs are set

The pre-playoffs begin on Wednesday, March 8th and will be played in a best-of-three series. Other game dates are Friday, March 10th and, if necessary, Sunday, March 12th.

The round of 16, in which the Oberliga North and South face each other, begins on Friday, March 17th. The other games will be played on March 19th, 21st and, if necessary, on March 24th and 26th. The team that wins three games first advances.

The quarter-final and semi-final series as well as the final will also be held in a best-of-three series. Dates for the quarterfinals are March 28th and 31st and April 2nd, 4th and 6th. The semi-finals start on April 8th and end with a possible game five on April 16th. The final series begins on April 21st and ends on April 30th at the latest.
