AfD politicians keep causing a stir on the internet. They often trigger shitstorms with controversial, shocking and racist statements. Hans-Thomas Tillschneider is at the forefrontVice-Chairman of AfD parliamentary group in Saxony-Anhalt.
At a “peace demo” in Magdeburg, the deputy head of the AfD Saxony-Anhalt attracted attention with bellicose words. Together with other leading politicians of the state AfD, he shot against the USA and the German federal government. Russia is a victim of hostile powers.

According to the daily newspaper “MZAround 350 spectators attended the rally on Magdeburg Cathedral Square – significantly fewer than the party was able to mobilize during the corona pandemic. But Tillschneider had a clear message for the people taking part.
Tillschneider calls for war against the federal government
The AfD politician observed by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution called for a “war against the federal government”. Hagen Eichler, a journalist from Saxony-Anhalt, writes on Twitter: “The last inhibitions are falling with the AfD.” To applause, Tillschneider demanded at the rally: “If we have a government that is waging war against us, then we are waging war against this government.”
Tillschneider is seen as an actor on the right-wing extremist wing of his party. He repeatedly attracts attention due to his anti-democratic and extreme right-wing attitude. With regard to Tillschneider’s statement, political observer Johannes Hillje writes on Twitter: “You don’t need to know more about the AfD’s trivialization as a ‘peace party’ and its supposed ‘peace demos’.”
Tillschneider is a “grudgingly” fan of Wagenknecht’s manifesto
As an AfD politician, Tillschneider also very openly promotes the “Manifesto for Peace” by publisher Alice Schwarzer and left-wing politician Sahra Wagenknecht. Although “gnashing teeth”, as he writes in his Facebook post, it is better than nothing. Nonetheless, he criticizes the Manifesto’s rhetoric:
“When I had to read the sentence: ‘The Ukrainian population brutally attacked by Russia needs our solidarity’, I thought, like Björn Höcke: ‘What fallback option do the authors think they can keep open with this political phraseology?’
According to Tillschneider, such “sentences that make you want to vomit” have a rather deterrent effect on signers. But the matter is so important that you should overcome nausea and also support “half-baked initiatives,” says the AfD official. Or just wage war against your own federal government?
The journalist Thomas Vorreyer shares Tillschneider’s shock statement and points out that this is a sentence from a democratically elected AfD MP. He said this in “public places” around the anniversary of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine. He is not the first right-wing politician to incite the Germans to go to war against their own government.
Right-wing extremist Poggenburg is also calling for war against the government
The former chairman of the AfD Saxony-Anhalt André Poggenburg also made belligerent statements at a rally in Gera. The former AfD politician and founder of the “Aufbruch deutscher Patrioten” announced at the beginning of the year that he would wage “war against the German government” – if there was a military conflict with Russia.
Poggenburg addresses his words to the Green politician Annalena Baerbock: “Should it come to the point that German citizens have to go to war, then, weapon in hand, we will wage war against you and your political cartel parties” says Poggenburg.
The Berlin election night was particularly bitter for the FDP. The Liberals failed at the five percent hurdle. This is the fifth unsuccessful state election in a row.
