Around two and a half years after a fire destroyed the building, the reconstructed alternative school in Fischbach went into operation this week.

The school was rebuilt according to the existing plans and expanded to include a sports and exercise floor. “Last week, the children and teachers of the new school district Forach and the Haselstauden kindergarten moved to the alternative school. We wish them all the best in the new district,” reports Mayor Dipl.-Vw. Andrea Kaufman.

“Here you will find an attractive alternative quarters during the construction work. After the Haselstauden kindergarten has moved, the construction work for the children’s home and the renovation of the technical school can be tackled in the coming weeks,” adds Christoph Waibel, city councilor for building construction.

“Important extension for childcare”

For the teachers and kindergarten teachers, there were only shortened semester breaks this year. They used this week to move into the new rooms and to design them in such a way that the children can feel comfortable right away from Monday. “The children of the Forach school district are currently being accommodated in the alternate school until they can move to their own school in a few years’ time,” adds Karin Feurstein-Pichler, Mag. (FH).

The Haselstauden kindergarten has also moved to the alternative school in Fischbach. “In a few weeks we will be able to start construction work for the new children’s home in Haselstauden with the groundbreaking ceremony. For the district, this project means an important expansion of childcare,” adds Marie-Louise Hinterauer, City Councilor for Family Affairs. Together with the event center and the adapted technical school, a new district center is being built here next to the elementary school.

The alternative school was rebuilt in the same way as the old school, albeit one floor higher, in which there is a small gymnasium with adjoining rooms.

“We are thus improving what is on offer for the schools and kindergartens that are housed here while their main school is being renovated or built. The additional rooms can also be used by clubs,” reports school and energy councilor Mag. (FH) Karin Feurstein-Pichler. An additional extension is a green roof and photovoltaic system, which will improve the city’s climate balance.
