After being teased for more than a month, the new season of Age of Empires IV is finally revealed! On the program: a complete overhaul of the monuments, new units and maps as well as a new temporary enchanting biome.
Enchanting Maps and Mesmerizing Content
This update called Enchanted Groves, or Enchanted Groves, will feature a new eponymous biome. This new environment will be available during an event that will begin when this update is released, from February 16 to 29. You will have the opportunity to collect portraits, emblems and a golden deer statue for your forum by completing quests related to this update.
After receiving a slew of new cards in October, Age of Empires IV is getting three more with this update:
- Four Lakes: A land surrounded by four lakes invites aggression from all sides, both on land and water.
- Continental: A vast island surrounded by ocean, the water contains many fish and stealth areas to ambush your enemies.
- Swamp: An open and aggressive environment located deep in the jungle, surrounded by swampy terrain.
Nomad mode is also coming back from the dead! Present in Age of Empires 1 and 2, you will start before the dark age with 3 villagers on a totally random map. You will have the opportunity to place your city center wherever you want, having the necessary resources for its construction from the start.
Ranked ranks will be reset and you will get your valuable rewards from the previous season.
Complete redesign and interface improvements
If this update was expected by many players, it is especially for this part! Indeed, many players had complained about the uselessness of certain age monuments, creating an impossibility to change one’s style of play according to the situation at a higher level.
World’s Edge took this issue to heart and didn’t do things halfway by changing most of the age monuments. For example, almost all Palace Monuments in Age 4 have been upgraded.
New units will also be introduced on February 16:
- Clockwork Rams (Chinese): Available at the Clockwork Siege Workshop at age 3, these rams have 20% more health.
- Elite Tower Elephants (Delhi): Elephants mounted by two escopettes, with very high damage.
- Huihui Pao (Mongols): Massive, overpowered trebuchet only available through Khaganate Palace at age 4.
- Militians (Rus): 6-deployed fragile melee soldiers available with the Kremlin at age 2 that have a lifespan of 90 seconds.
- The King (English): super-powerful knight available via the Abbey of Kings at age 2 who can heal allies in the area out of combat.
- Men of Wyngard (English): 6 reinforced men-at-arms deployed via Wyngard Palace at age 4.
- Wyngard Archers: 6 Reinforced Archers deployed via Wyngard Palace at age 4.
This new season will also be an opportunity to add some visual improvements to the interface. You will now be able to zoom in on the mini-map, see more specifically the characteristics of your units or garrison your units more easily. The changes within the title are very numerous and we invite you to consult them. here
The developers tell us that an event is already scheduled for the following months, called Villager Appreciation. The developers did not want to dwell on it, but tell us that player icons will be available for free.
The new season will be available on February 16 on PC. The game has been available in the PC Game Pass since its release on October 21, 2021.
