Agents from the Marine Tactical Unit recovered four bodies, including that of an infant, from the waters of the Rio Grande River in Eagle Pass, Texas.
The bodies were discovered within a 48-hour period and it is presumed that they drowned, possibly while crossing the river. The identity of the deceased is unknown, since none had identity documents.
During the operations to rescue them, two boats were used. Agents “observed multiple bodies floating along the river,” Chris Olivarez reported via Twitter.
An adult woman and a girl who were unresponsive were given chest compressions by officers. Medical personnel who arrived at the scene transported both individuals to Fort Duncan Regional Medical Center, where they were determined dead.
Meanwhile, two survivors were turned over to the Border Patrol.
