President Alberto Fernández will meet this Monday in Brasilia with his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inácio “Lula” Da Silva, one day after the new president of the neighboring country took office.

“Tomorrow there will be a brief meeting between Lula and Alberto Fernández,” reported Argentine Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero, who, in turn, confirmed that Lula will make an official visit to Argentina at the end of January.

According to spokesmen quoted by Télam, the meeting between the presidents will take place at 10 at the Itamaraty Palace, headquarters of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, in Brasilia.

The Foreign Minister also said that “on January 24 we have the CELAC summit (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, of which Fernández exercises the pro tempore presidency) and Lula wanted this to be his first international trip.”

“We are finishing coordinating the agenda, he would come on the 23rd and we would make a state visit to Argentina, and tomorrow there will be a brief meeting between Lula and Alberto Fernández,” reiterated the foreign minister, who attended the inauguration in Brazil da Silva as president.

Lula assumed the presidency of Brazil for the third time yesterday. Without the presence of his predecessor, he promised in his speech “rebuild the country and make again a Brazil of all and for all”.
