Stefan Mros’ alleged alcohol problem has dominated the headlines for weeks. He himself never tires of mentioning the subject.

This year’s “Always Sundays” season started on May 7th. Just a few days earlier, there were several media reports reporting on Stefan Mross’ excessive alcohol consumption. The moderator himself denied the allegations and explained: “It’s true that I had a lot of free time and went through a difficult time privately. I also drank a little privately. But that’s over now because my work starts again.”

“I already know what I’m talking about”

Shortly thereafter, Stefan Mross was back on stage at Europa-Park Rust for the first time and led through the first episode of “Always Again on Sundays” for two hours. In the beginning he did not speak directly about the allegations, but he did talk about the media reports. So he said in conversation with singer Nicole: “I don’t believe everything that’s in the newspaper, I know what I’m talking about.”

A week later, Stefan Mross still seems to be buzzing with the headlines. Because right at the beginning of the second episode he pointed to his guests and said to the audience: “And do you know what these colleagues all have in common? They have hits, they have great songs and they have a full life. And they become very, very grow old. How do I know that? I read that in the newspaper. And everything that’s in the newspaper is true – not always!”

An hour and a half later, he brought up the subject of reporting again. Speaking to Michael Holm, Stefan Mross mentioned something similar: “I really don’t believe everything that’s in the newspaper.” In the show, the moderator does not go into the subject any further. The 47-year-old will certainly not be able to resist a mention next Sunday.

Before the start of the “Always Sundays” season, there was also speculation that SWR could replace the moderator after several allegations. But the broadcaster stuck by his star and continued the “long-standing successful collaboration with the popular moderator Stefan Mross”.
