Alejandro Vargas Salas is the new Northwest District District Attorney, replacing Guadalupe Marín Márquez, the State Government announced in a press release.

The decision was reported after the Table for the Construction of Peace held in Nuevo Casas Grandes, which also addressed the disarmament of the Municipal Police of said municipality, to allow entry to state and federal forces.

Along with Alejandro Vargas Salas as head of the District Attorney’s Office, Ramón González Bonilla, District Coordinator of Public Prosecutors, as well as the Regional Coordinator of the State Investigation Agency, José Enrique García García, were appointed.

In turn, the Secretary of State Public Security, Gilberto Loya Chávez, and the Commander of the Fifth Military Zone, Brigadier General DEM, Saúl Luna Jaimes, announced a series of implemented measures, which include the review of weapons, confidence exams for the personnel of the Municipal Police and the patrols in charge of the Secretariat, the Mexican Army and the National Guard.

General Luna Jaimes indicated that a single command was established in the Nuevo Casas Grandes Military Garrison and they will be coordinated in the actions of surveillance and attention to the population.

Gilberto Loya, explained that an evaluation is being carried out in accordance with the law, of the Municipal Police; the weapons will be transferred to the city of Chihuahua for inspection and the personnel will be notified of a schedule for confidence examinations.

On the other hand, the Attorney General thanked Guadalupe Marín Márquez, for her performance during the time she was in charge of the Northwest Prosecutor’s Office; “On behalf of the Governor, thank you for all the effort she has put in during this time in a difficult, troubled area, which we know has many problems. Our thanks for her work,” she noted.
