Algeria has announced the opening of a new diplomatic representation in Italy. A general consulate of Algeria will soon see the light of day in Naples, a city located in the south of the country. This decision was formalized by a presidential decree published in Official Journal n°27. The new establishment will strengthen ties between Algeria and Italy, particularly in the southern regions of the peninsula.

Presidential Decree No. 23-163 of Ramadhan 27, 1444 corresponding to April 18, 2023 stipulates the opening of a Consulate General of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in Naples (Italian Republic). This decree was promulgated by the President of the Republic on the report of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the national community abroad.

The consular district of the new consulate will therefore encompass several departments in southern Italy, namely Campania, Molise, Puglia, Basilicata, Calabria and Sicily. This geographical extension aims to facilitate administrative procedures for Algerian nationals residing in these regions, as well as to strengthen economic and cultural exchanges between Algeria and Italy.

Visas – Italy: Opening of a new VFS center in Algeria

The Italian diplomatic representation in Algeria has informed, via an official press release, of the establishment of a visa application center in southern Algeria. This center, located in Ghardaïa, will be responsible for managing and processing requests from residents of the Oued Mzab region.

Representatives of the Italian Embassy therefore visited the site for the inauguration and discussed with the local authorities in order to encourage tourism in this area. Ghardaïa thus hosts the 6th center for processing visa applications for Italy in Algeria.

After Adrar, Ghardaïa is the second wilaya in the south to have its own center for managing tourist visa applications. The other centers are in Algiers, Oran, Constantine and Annaba.

The inauguration then took place on March 14, in the presence of the wali of Ghardaïa, Abdellah Abi Nouar, and the Italian ambassador Giovanni Pugliese. The new Ghardaïa site is attached to the international company VFS Global.
