Alienware invades CES 2023 with new references: the Alienware M18, M16, X16, X14, as well as the Dell G15 and G16 will soon land on the shelves.

Alienware has long believed in the universe premium gaming PCs. And his integration into the Dell conglomerate only reinforced his convictions, pushing him year after year to improve his formula to still be as good today, while being a bit more accessible for ordinary mortals. No wonder then that at CES 2023, the alien was still seen.

The Alienware X16, the spearhead in 16 inches

If you’re looking for a sound and light show, and the most premium experience Alienware has planned this year, look to the X16. The manufacturer claims that it is his “first 16-inch gaming laptop since 2004“. It must be said that this diagonal had somewhat disappeared from the market for a while, before the screen borders dwindled to allow its return, to be stalled next to its little brother the Alienware X14.

Range X obliges, this is a PC gamer which nevertheless seeks to be as compact as possible. Without having to limit the performance of its 13th gen Intel CPU and its Nvidia GeForce RTX series 4 GPU ? Difficult to say before the test, but the manufacturer had the intelligence to provide cooling by vapor chambers for the models equipped with RTX 4080 and 4090.

All this in a new chassis that will highlight the design improvements concocted by the alien. The Alienware X16 will be the flagship of “Lunar 3”, the third revision of the brand’s industrial visual language. We’re not going to lie either: it is in the details that we will have to observe these changes. In fact, this year’s Alienware PCs remain largely the same. The X16 will also integrate LEDs everywhere, especially on the touchpad. All for a total weight of 2.72 kg certainly not making it the lightest device on the market, but it will be necessary to compare what is comparable: we will wait to see the solutions of competitors with an equal configuration.

Absolute power with the Alienware M18 and M16

Those looking for power above all else, and a gaming PC that will be more “portable” than portable, will naturally turn to the Alienware M18. The “patator” of the year at the alien will once again give you the choice between a 13th gen Intel configuration or the latest generation AMD Ryzen, coupled with removable dual channel DDR5 RAM and 4 M.2 SSD slots. On the GPU side, we can again choose between the latest references from Nvidia or AMD.

The star of the show remains its 18-inch panel with a 16:10 ratio which will support QuadHD+ definition at 165Hzor a FullHD+ definition with a refresh rate of up to 480Hz. Alienware promises its M18 will cover no matter what 100% DCI-P3 space. For the rest, the changes are minor: the design benefits from a new softer finish, when the hinge of the screen and the Full HD webcam have been improved.

On the other side we have the Alienware M16. We are essentially on the same proposal, except that its 16-inch screen will offer QuadHD+ definition at 240Hz. Those looking for a smaller computer with the same level of power requirements will be in heaven.

And Dell G15 and G16, because why not

Despite its now well-established acquisition of Alienware, Dell still continues to release its small gaming models, perhaps a little more soberly put forward. The Dell G16 and G15 could however surprise us this year, since they have the advantage of recover the same vapor chamber cooling system than their brothers from elsewhere. And also benefits from a certain aesthetic sobriety, with new “retro” orange and blue colors on a metal background.

On the configuration side, we are once again opposite the latest 13th generation Intel Core coupled with the latest Nvidia GeForce RTX. The sacrifice seems to want to be made above all on the transportability of the devices, which seem quite monstrous and less well finished than their saucer cousins. However, if their pricing lines up, they could be interesting alternatives to optimize your budget.

The Command Center is improving

A more discreet improvement that concerns all of these devices is the online release ofa new version of the Alienware Command Center, the performance management and control software interface. If it was already quite effective before, it still lacked finish and accessibility. Alienware promises its new design will be more intuitive and dynamic to use, while continuing to offer the same thermal management, overclocking, macros and lighting features.
