Lima Peru.- Peru assured that President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has decided to ignore the Pacific Alliance agreements because he has decided to support the coup of former President Pedro Castillo and politicize the regional integration initiative in order to weaken it.

The statements come a day after the Mexican President asserted that he would not hand over the pro tempore presidency to Dina Boluarte, considering her government spurious.

“Let the members of the Rio Group decide. We are going to notify it to see what is the opinion they have, if they say to hand over the presidency then we will do it, but if I am going to make the consultation because I also do not want to legitimize a coup State, we cannot do it, that is contrary to freedoms, it is contrary to human rights and it is undemocratic, they do not count on us,” AMLO said Friday at a conference in Sonora.

The Presidency of Peru indicated this Saturday in a statement that what López Obrador said deviates from the principles contained in the Framework Agreement referring to democracy and the rule of law and has politicized the Pacific Alliance in order to weaken it.

“The transfer of the PPT from the Pacific Alliance to Peru is not a concession, it is an obligation contained in a treaty that binds the four countries that make up the Alliance,” he says.
