Mexico City.- President Andrés Manuel López Obrador celebrated International Labor Day surrounded by questioned union leaders, involved in corruption scandals and entrenched for years in the leadership of union organizations.

The same ‘charro’ leaders who paraded in the ceremonies of the old regime, appeared this afternoon at the National Palace, now added to worker representatives of the 4T who also have a murky history.

In the presidium, together with the federal president, was the octogenarian Carlos Aceves del Olmo, general secretary of the CTM since 2016; also Isaías González Cuevas, who has been leading the CROC for 18 years, and Francisco Hernández Juárez, leader of the telephone workers union for 47 years.

At the same table, the presidency offered a chair for the questioned senator from Morena Napoleón Gómez Urrutia, who has been in charge of the mining union for more than 20 years.

The president even dedicated a few words to him: “Now things are different, the government acts independently, as a true judge and is not only at the service of businessmen or bankers.

“The public servants of the Ministry of Labor are not imposed by the powerful, now it is Luisa María (Mayor), who is not an employee of any businessperson in the mining sector, of those who expelled Napoleon, and that does not happen nor will it ever happen again. pass”.

Applause came from the tables set up for the occasion, in the Treasury room, where union leaders who have been involved in various scandals were also present, such as Pedro Haces Barba, leader of CATEM; Ricardo Aldana, from the Pemex Union, and even Víctor Flores, who has been the leader of the railway union for 28 years.

In front of all of them, the president not only thanked, but also offered his hand to work together.

“Friends, friends, it only remains for me to thank you because I have had your understanding and support, regardless of the partisan factions, I have always had your support in the time that I have been governing the country.

“I am sure that I will continue to count on you and on the support of the Mexican working class, with your cooperation and your solidarity. From me, you will always find my open and frank hand extended, as a sign of friendship and camaraderie”, manifested.
