On the morning of January 19, prosecutor Alfonso Barrenechea Cabrera arrived at the compound to make a series of recommendations to the protesters so that its deployment through the city is peaceful, calm and not with acts of violence as has been experienced in the interior of Peru.

From outside the UNMSM, the national crime prevention coordinator specified that lethal weapons will not be used in all demonstrations. “We come from the police station, we have verified that they will not be used.” He indicated that the designated prosecutors are carrying out their dialogue work at different points, such as Plaza 2 de Mayo, Plaza San Martín, Parque Kennedy to carry out real-time monitoring.
The prosecutor explained that the entry of the protesters was by decision of the UNMSM and the Police did not enter the establishment. “We were asked for an action by the prevention prosecutor’s office. Yesterday we established ourselves at this university headquarters, but finally, any decision, regarding a legal action for the actions of people, is the responsibility of the university”.
