Now, in addition, it was announced that AMLO suspends an international meeting that was scheduled in Cancun.
It is worth saying that this meeting it was not this weekend. Actually, it was scheduled until the next 6 and 7 mayin just over 10 days.
The news of the suspension of the international meeting came from the hand of the Ministry of Foreign Relations (SRE) who reported, in a brief statement, that the reason was due to AMLO’s COVID diagnosis. Furthermore, they said that other countries requested to move it too.
AMLO suspends international meeting in Cancun
Officially, the meeting that AMLO suspended is the First High Level Meeting for Agrifood Integration. If they didn’t know her, it’s because —besides being the first time they’ve met— it’s because it just originated in the Anti-inflationary Summit last April.
Several Latin American leaders were expected to attend and AMLO to give keynote addresses, but the president’s COVID ended up changing plans.
This decision is given after knowing the positive diagnosis of COVID-19 of the President of the Republic, who would inaugurate the trade promotion component and the work sessions of the heads of delegation of the participating countries, activities scheduled at said meeting, as well as derived from the request of several countries to modify the date of said event.
SRE on the suspension of the AMLO International Meeting
Another important part is that this meeting is not cancelled, it is suspended. The Secretariat reported that —although they still do not define an exact date— the same meeting, also in Cancun, will be held in June of this 2023.
“The Ministry of Foreign Relations will inform in a timely manner about the development of these activities,” they commented in their message.
Although AMLO suspended this international meetinghis state of health —at least publicly— remains without major shock. The Secretary of Health reported that the president is stable and only with the symptoms of COVID, ruling out any concern of a heart attack.. “Blood pressure is controlled and in good condition”he pointed.
