Peruvian Foreign Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi spoke out against the statements made by the President of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, regarding the refusal to hand over the pro tempore presidency of the Pacific Alliance to the Peru.

Through a pronouncement, the owner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru He asserted that the only person responsible for stopping the Pacific Alliance is the Mexican president. Along the same lines, he pointed out that his position only demonstrates “foolishness and a biased vision.”

“Mr. López has decided to hinder and stop the work of the Pacific Alliance, instead of allowing the member states that wish to remain in it to advance jointly with the candidate countries to join it and the associated and observer states in strengthening the bloc. He is solely responsible for the paralysis of the Pacific Alliance and the consequences that they will generate for the peoples, ”said Gervasi Díaz.

“The arguments alluded to today by Mr. López for not handing over the presidency of the Pacific Alliance that corresponds to our country, show foolishness and a biased vision that are not consistent with the recognition of the ratified constitutional mandate of the President of the Republic. by the international community as a whole,” he added.

Likewise, the Peruvian foreign minister highlighted that the position taken by López Obrador only manifests a “level of negligence” with which he guides his actions abroad and that affects the successful integration process, in addition to the needs of his population.

In that sense, Ana Cecilia Gervasi He emphasized that countries “that do not wish to work within the framework of the (Pacific) Alliance” should consider suspending their participation in said mechanism, so that it can continue advancing.

Rejects interference

At another time, the minister remarked that from her sector they reject the repeated “interventionist, irresponsible and ideological” statements by López Obrador and the president of Colombia, Gustavo Petro, who assured that they insist on ignoring the coup d’état perpetrated by former president Pedro Castillo last December and the succession of President Dina Boluarte.

“Mr. Petro’s particular references to the prosecutor of the Nation of Peru, in addition to being untrue, are a clear demonstration of his non-recognition of the independence and constitutional autonomy that prosecutors have within the framework of a democratic system,” added.
