The AirTag is very practical for finding your lost belongings, but also your car if it is stolen. In the United States, an owner found his stolen car thanks to an AirTag, but the policeman who went to find it put his life in danger.

AirTags have been very popular since their release in 2021. Thanks to its small size and long battery life, the Apple tracker makes it very easy to find your lost belongings. Just slip it into your wallet, bag, suitcase or even hang it on your house keys so you never lose anything again. Recently, a woman followed the incredible journey of her lost suitcase thanks to the AirTag slipped into the luggage. The AirTag also allows you to find stolen cars.

In the United States and more specifically in Detroit, a man had his car stolen. Fortunately, he had left an AirTag inside. He was therefore able to follow the route of the thieves to find them and hope to recover his car. A plainclothes police officer came to the scene, but he almost lost his life.

AirTags let you find thieves yourself, but don’t think you’re a superhero

The owner of the stolen car informed the local authorities of the location of the vehicle found thanks to its AirTag. A plainclothes police officer went there to retrieve the car, but he had no backup with him. The thieves were particularly aggressive, shooting at the policeman’s car multiple times.

The confrontation with the thieves was so violent that a bullet hit the headrest of the policeman’s seat. The latter escaped unscathed and the two thieves were finally arrested. The American authorities therefore took the opportunity to remind you that you should always contact the police instead of confronting criminals yourself. Do not hesitate to call the police if you feel in danger, as when stalkers put AirTags in the cars of their victims to track them.

Yes, AirTags allow anyone to find a stolen object, regardless of its size, but some tend to think of themselves as superheroes. It is not because they have found the trail of the thieves themselves that they can go and recover their property without notifying the police. This is how a man got his nose broken after trying to pick up his motorcycle himself in New York.
