WASHINGTON — Un alligator killed one women 69-year-old walking his dog near a lagoon bordering a golf course in the southeastern United States, local police announced.
The woman, who resided on Hilton-Head Island, in South Carolinawas found unconscious Tuesday morning, Beaufort police said in a statement.
The alligator was “watching” his body, which disrupted rescue operations, he said. It is the “second deadly alligator attack in the county…in less than a year.”
In August 2022, an 88-year-old woman died after being attacked by an alligator near her home.
These reptiles are common in the southeastern United States, especially in the state of Florida, where they can be seen crossing a street or basking on the grass of golf courses.
