Appalling accident caught on camera in New Britain

A routine stop by a Connecticut state trooper on July 4 turned scary in New Britain, and the entire incident was caught on camera.

Not one, but two different cars nearly collided with the patrol car, as the police officer was setting up road flares while investigating an incident on Route 72 in New Britain.

In the officer’s body camera footage, a loud screeching noise is first heard. Then a red car and other dark-colored cars are seen gliding down the road.

Then a crash is heard and the policeman says on the radio that his car has been hit. The other vehicle appeared to crash into the guardrail.

It is unclear if anyone was injured in the collisions.

State Police remind all drivers that when the roads are wet, driving speeds should be reduced to avoid hydroplaning and possible collisions.
