“Where is my dish? Where is my dish? » The scene takes place at night, in a street in the fifteenth arrondissement of Paris. The man who asked this incongruous question twice, in a cap and white jogging pants, approaches a scooter driver with a menacing look. He tries to punch her. Ready. He circles his target. Lands another right, which bangs a helmet loudly.
“Stop, stop! Kind of sick. Let go, racist, go! » launches a female voice. The attacker then trots away, before disappearing into a perpendicular street.

Uber, Deliveroo… With the presumption of employment, the EU “recognizes that platform workers must be protected”
This is the sequence of a 16-second video, posted on the night of April 25 to 26, which was seen some 130,000 times on Twitter. It shows, in a piecemeal way, an attack which took place shortly before midnight. The victim seen on screen is an Uber Eats delivery person. According to testimonies collected by “Obs”, the courier was also targeted by racist insults launched by the man to whom he had brought food.
The young woman who captured the images, Julie, tried to intervene with other passers-by to protect the delivery man. She herself was then the target of physical and verbal violence, as she recounts in our video montage to watch at the top of this article.
“Dirty nigger, dirty son of a bitch, dirty black…”
The story begins with a banal problem with the entry code to deliver an order which was to bring him less than four euros, tells us Youl, the courier victim of the attack (his first name has been changed).
Confronted with a customer whose language he considers disrespectful, the Uber Eats delivery man refuses to enter the building. The displeased man then joins him on the sidewalk. And quickly gives him a first shot », relate Youl. « In the face, straight. He invites the 30-year-old courier to fight. The latter, who no longer wants to honor the order, ends up storing the dish he was holding in the trunk of his two-wheeler.

Joined by friends, the customer pretends to apologize for a moment to try to get his order. But the delivery man is inflexible. For fear of being penalized by Uber, Youl undertakes to wait on the spot until eight minutes have elapsed since his arrival, which will allow him to officially cancel the delivery. A regulatory deadline which does not however have to be respected when the safety of the delivery person is in danger, indicates the American company to “Obs”.
Youl then gets pushed around again. The courier of Ivorian origin is the target of a multitude of insults. “Dirty nigger, dirty son of a bitch, dirty black”, he lists. Remarks whose racist content is confirmed by other witnesses of the scene joined by “the Obs”. Including Julie, the author of the video. “I took out my phone to film the attack”she explains.
“I said to myself: if there is no proof to be provided, we will not be believed. »
The 30-year-old manages to film two blows given by the aggressor. After which the assailant momentarily distances himself, allowing Youl to flee. On his return, it is the turn of Julie and her companion to be threatened. After being insulted, the young woman also suffered violence from the same man.
“I didn’t know that there were this kind of people in France”
« I took a punch in the arch and cheek “, she says, showing, by webcam, a large trace visible on her face. Falling to the ground, she indicates having received blows to the knee which, after consultation with a doctor, will earn her a splint and a scanner. At the end of the attack, the young woman and her companion contact the police and wait in vain for about twenty minutes before returning home.

Julie now announces her intention to file a complaint at the beginning of next week, after a new examination by a medical examiner. For its part, a spokesperson for Uber France said that the company was bringing its “full support” to his deliverer.

Youl, on the other hand, declares that he was not seriously injured and that he has already returned to work. However, he says he is very affected by what he has experienced. He who joined France five years ago believes that ” it’s not really in the motto ” from the country :
