An unexpected cut in the Chilean sector of the international pass that unites that country with Argentina at the height of the north of Mendoza, called Libertadores, today affected dozens of vehicles that were waiting to cross the mountain range to the bordering country to celebrate the end of the of year.

The Chilean authorities ordered the cut after 2:00 p.m. due to heavy rains in the trans-Andean country that complicate traffic in high mountain areas, while they expect that the corridor will be re-enabled for traffic tomorrow morning.

“As of 2:00 p.m., traffic for all types of vehicles is suspended preventively, due to heavy rains that will be recorded in Alta Montaña, especially in the Chilean sector,” the authorities of the international crossing explained in a statement.

For this reason, they invited users to stay informed through the official channels of the organizations of each country and the media.

This week, there were delays and complaints at customs since the immigration procedures had reached up to seven hours of waiting.
