Apple allegedly delayed the launch of these new laptops, moving the launch to early 2023, because Taiwanese chipmaker TSMC will only start manufacturing its next-generation 3nm (nanometer) chips this last week of 2022.
The M2 Pro and Max models, both System-on-Chip (SoC) and that the Cupertino company will include in the 2023 MacBook Pro, could be built on the next-generation process.
Apple bets on the 3 nm process
The report adds that TSMC plans to hold a ceremony at the South Taiwan Science Park (STSP) on December 29 to mark the start of commercial chip production using 3nm process technology, Apple’s bet on the future.
