As we quickly approach the second season of Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 content, little encouraging news arrives from the network regarding the new course of the free-to-play shooter that began last November.

According to what was revealed by CharlieIntel, a source considered more than authoritative for everything related to the Call of Duty ecosystem, Warzone 2.0 is reportedly losing players at a higher rate than anticipated from Activision and Infinity Ward: “We have heard from multiple sources that the Warzone 2.0 player count has dropped below the cap at a faster rate than expected. We don’t know what this will mean and what changes will be made”.

The creators of the free-to-play have not shared any official numbers and certainly we cannot know the minimum limit set internally by Activision below which to begin to worry, however a record of player crashes can easily be found in the SteamCharts database. The tracking tool, clearly linked to the Valve ecosystem, shows a quite substantial decline: the peak of players connected to the launch (452,000) is now a distant memory, since this indicator had already dropped to 273,000 two weeks after the launch, to 144,000 at the beginning of 2023 and only 119,000 in the last few hours.

We don’t know the numbers in the console world, however – even in light of the many problems that continue to be reported by Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 players – measures by Activision and its teams appear inevitable.
