CDMX.- When Pablo Lyle’s career was emerging in Mexican soap operas such as My Adorable Curse and Corazón que Mente, everything took a radical turn after a traffic riot in Miami, Florida, on March 31, 2019. The Sinaloan was 32 years old.

The actor punched Juan Ricardo Hernández, a 63-year-old Cuban retiree, in the face, who was left unconscious on the public highway. Without turning around, Lyle fled in his car, but the attack had been recorded on cameras. That same day he ended up in custody, but he paid a $5,000 bail to continue his trial at liberty.

Hernández suffered a head injury that caused a stroke. Four days later, he died at Jackson Memorial Hospital. As for Lyle, he lived through a long judicial process, postponed numerous times with everything and the Covid-19 pandemic, so that, finally, on October 4, 2022, a jury found him guilty of involuntary manslaughter. This, despite the argument that he acted in self-defense out of fear that his family would be attacked; he failed to prove it.

Lyle posted a new $50,000 bail and remained under house arrest for more than three years, until last Friday. Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez sentenced him to five years in prison and eight on probation, a sentence less than the 15 years requested by the prosecution. In addition, he will do community service and take anger management therapy.

Originally from Mazatlán, Lyle embarked on a career as a model. At the age of 17, he moved to Mexico City, entered the Televisa Center for Artistic Education (CEA) and made his debut in the youth telenovela Código Postal. In 2009 he played Baldomero Pérez Olmos in Verano de Amor and two years later he joined the cast of Una Familia con Suerte.

He starred in the melodrama Cachito de Cielo and became the image of Calvin Klein. She then shared credit with Michelle Renaud in Shadow of the Past. She also acted in the series Yankee and Érase Una Vez and in the film Mirreyes vs. Godínez, with which her career took off internationally. In her theatrical facet, she intervened in the plays Cuatro XXXX, Divorciémonos, Mi Amor and Mi Amiga la Gorda.

When going through the legal problem, his career was interrupted and he lost leading roles in new productions.

His wife supports him

Lyle and his wife, Ana Araujo, had an affair when they were 16 and 14 years old, respectively. In 2014, Araujo, who had a 3-year-old girl, visited CDMX while Lyle was forging his acting path. They met again and decided that she would move. That same year they had their son Mauro and they were married on December 28.

Since 2019 they faced the tragedy of the aforementioned road lawsuit. The legal process lasted for three years and five months and prevented the actor from returning to Mexico with his family; he had to stay in the US.

After Araujo referred to Lyle as her ex-husband on the My Wellness Friend podcast on September 30, she testified at the trial and assured that she had not separated from her husband.

“It can be easy for everyone to judge you by a reaction of seconds that does not define you as a person, but not everyone can see what I have seen: I have witnessed your pain and your regret,” Araujo said during Friday’s hearing.
