Announced with great pomp as a series for Disney+ Armor Wars then turned into a real film. At the moment the details around the project are still scarce, but the protagonist Don Cheadle (who for the occasion will reprise the role of James Rhodes aka War Machine) has let himself go to a very important statement. Don Cheadle’s involvement in Secret Invasion it was officially confirmed in March of last year after photos of the actor caught on the set surfaced online. The series, inspired by one of the most famous comic stories of all time, will see Nick Fury return to action after his period on the run, ready to face a large-scale war. The former head of SHIELD is among other things the only one, with the exception of Carol Danvers, who knows of the existence of the Skrulls.
At the time of its announcement in 2020 during Disney Investor’s Day, Armor Wars had been presented as a series that, inspired by the comic mini-series of the same name, would have presented the consequences of Tony Stark’s creations. Despite Stark’s death at the end of Avengers: Endgame, his legacy, or the technology of his armor, represents an unexplored point of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. At the moment, a precise release date has not yet been set, but it is likely that Armor Wars can arrive in theaters in 2024 forwarded or even in 2025, placing itself in Phase 6 of the MCU.
