FromSoftware’s titles usually offer multiplayer in a slightly more obscure way, where you can, for example, call on other players for help, but also risk being invaded by others who wish you ill.

So how does it work in the upcoming Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, which will differ in several ways from the studio’s other games? In a new interview with IGN Japan tells director Masaru Yamamura that there is no cooperative function in the campaign in any case:

“On the other hand, in the story mode, which is the main part of the game, we have chosen not to include cooperative play because we want to emphasize the dynamic action, the free-running of your unit, and the active changes you can make during missions. We are focusing on the intense experience that can only be realized in single-player mode.”

However, he confirms that there are ways for players to compete against each other, but it is not known exactly how this will work.
