Although the developers of the Kodi media center software have been working on version 20, called the Nexus, for a long time, a maintenance update has now been made available for the previous edition. The update will be installed automatically and not available in all stores.

Kodi is an open-source media center software that is available for numerous platforms. In addition to Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android and iOS are also supported. Kodi offers the option to play music and videos from local and remote storage media. If you’re still using Kodi 19 “Matrix” and haven’t upgraded to an experimental Kodi 20 version yet, you can get another one maintenance update benefit. The update raises the version number to 19.5. However, the update does not bring any major innovations, just a few corrections. The complete changelog can be found on GitHub Find. The update can be downloaded using an existing installation. In most cases the download is automatic. If version 19.4 is already running without problems, the update can be dispensed with. The final version of Kodi 20 should be released in the near future. An exact date is still pending.

New version not in Google Play Store

Unlike the previous builds, the new version is not offered through the Google Play Store. The search engine company now requires that new builds must support at least API level 31 (Android 12). However, Kodi 19 still uses API level 29 (Android 10). The new version is also not available in the Microsoft Store. Kodi 20, on the other hand, should be available again in both stores.
