The year was 2006 and Rayman’s career changed radically. From being game designer Michel Ancel’s successful platformer, the armless and legless filur suddenly became a supporting character in the spin-off Rayman: Ravin’ Rabbids. When the rabbit-filled party game was released, however, a fourth, regular Rayman game was in development. Not by Ubisoft themselves, but by Phoenix Studio. However, due in part to the success of Ravin’ Rabbids, it was shelved after a few months of development.

Since 2006, a number of leaks have sporadically shown images, concept art and other material, but the leak that the user Rib shark now shown off on Twitter is the biggest we’ve ever gotten of Rayman’s fourth platform adventure. The leak includes a decently playable course, images and videos of Rayman’s girlfriend, rideable animals, a Rabbid boss, and a parody course called “Sphincter Cell”.

While we haven’t had a Rayman game in 3D since 2003’s Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc, Ubisoft and Rayman instead went back to 2D with the acclaimed Rayman: Origins and Legends from 2011 and 2013, respectively. After a bunch of party games, the Rabbit Rabbids are now the most famous as sidekicks to Mario in the XCom-like Kingdom Battle and most recently Sparks of Hope.
