Arsenal makes it difficult for Bayern Munich

LONDON (AP) — Leandro Trossard’s goal in the second half rescued a 2-2 draw on Tuesday for Arsenal before the visitor Bayern Munich in the first leg of the quarterfinals of the Champions Leagueafter Harry Kane scored again against his old rival.

Trossard scored with a low shot in the 76th minute to prevent Bayern from leaving the Emirates Stadium with another big victory, after Kane put the Germans ahead with a penalty in the first half.

The hosts struck first in the 12th minute, with a goal from Bukayo Saka, and dominated the early stages until Serge Gnabry, a former Arsenal player, leveled in the 18th after a mistake by defender Gabriel.

Kane converted a penalty in the 25th to give Bayern the lead. But two Arsenal substitutes produced the equalizing goal, with Gabriel Jesus setting up Trossard in the area.

The last time these two teams met, Bayern crushed Arsenal 10-2 on aggregate following 5-1 victories in the round of 16 in 2017.

But the feeling was different before this tie. Arsenal leads the Premier League, while Bayern is mired in its worst Bundesliga season in more than a decade and has assumed it will cede the domestic throne to Bayer Leverkusen.
