Atomic Heart takes place in a utopian Soviet Union of the 1950s and revolves around a top-secret military laboratory specializing in the manufacture of robots. At the head of this infrastructure, a scientist named Dmitry Sechenov, inventor of a revolutionary substance that changed the face of the 20th century and enabled the deployment of a range of assistant robots driven by artificial intelligence, the objective being to free the population of manual labor to enable it to flourish in the arts and sciences. But this idealized society is about to get out of hand when the authorities validate the invention of too many, a tool supposed to allow people to control this network of AI by thought. The player embodies P3, a highly qualified agent dispatched by Sechenov to settle this small internal incident and restore the network. Initially perceived as a simple FPS with a strange artistic direction, Atomic Heart claims to be an action-RPG strewn with combat, of course, but also free exploration between the different connected areas of the complex, punctuated by puzzles and a cinematic narration. The protagonist is assisted by a partner AI integrated into his glove which provides him with information and objectives.
