After an attack on a car on Tuesday morning, there was another incident in the evening. Police are investigating attempted murder.

A huge shock for a motorist in Gelsenkirchen-Buer early Tuesday morning: when he turned out of the left-turn tunnel onto Vinckestraße, his car was hit by a pavement slab. The police are now investigating attempted murder and are looking for witnesses. It didn’t stop with this one incident on Tuesday.

At around 5.30 a.m., the 31-year-old from Gelsenkirchen drove from Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse through the tunnel onto Vinckestrasse. As he passed the tunnel exit, a paving slab hit the windshield of his Audi from above, partially smashing it. The 31-year-old stopped immediately and dialed the emergency number 110, he was not physically injured. A pedestrian walkway runs right next to the tunnel exit.

Gelsenkirchen police set up murder commission

On Tuesday evening there was another attack in the same place: according to the police, an unknown person threw “a larger stone” at a car, the driver was also uninjured, but the car was damaged. “It’s the same modus operandi,” said a police spokesman. Police received the call at 7:14 p.m. A homicide commission was set up after the crime in the morning.

The northern lane of Vinckestrasse between Kurt-Schumacher-Strasse and Horster Strasse, including the tunnel, remained closed for a few hours on Tuesday morning due to police investigations. The Gelsenkirchen police have now set up a murder commission. In addition, witnesses are being sought who noticed someone or something conspicuous in the area around the Vincke Tunnel at the time of the crime.
