According to Russian authorities, a Ukrainian drone crashed about 50 kilometers east of Moscow. “A drone made in Ukraine crashed on the territory of Bogorodsk district” and was discovered yesterday by a local resident in a forest, district head Igor Sushin told Telegram yesterday. There were no injuries or damage.

An anonymous source within the emergency services told Russia’s state news agency RIA Novosti that the drone contained “no ammunition” as of the current investigation. According to another anonymous source, quoted by Russia’s state agency Interfax, the drone could carry up to 18 kilograms of explosives.

Parade canceled for “security reasons”.

After finding the drone, Sushin ordered the cancellation of the parade and a concert planned for May 9 in Bogorodsk district on the occasion of commemorations of the victory over Nazi Germany in 1945 for “security reasons”. “It’s a difficult decision for us, but it has to be made. Safety is the most important thing today. And victory is always in our hearts,” said Sushin.

Several other Russian regions, notably the Kursk and Belgorod regions bordering Ukraine and annexed Crimea, have already decided to cancel the May 9 parades for the same reasons.
