Two weeks into the new year, James Cameron’s insanely expensive boast project still continues to dominate the cinemas and for the fifth week in a row Avatar: The Way of Water is unchallenged number one with another 310 million kroner recorded. It’s certainly down 32% from last week, but with no new blockbusters on the horizon before Ant-Man and the Was: Quantumania (launching on February 17th), it’s highly likely that Cameron’s dominance will continue.
Avatar: The Way of Water has now taken in a total of 18 billion kroner and can boast of being the seventh highest-grossing film of all time. Not bad really and it’s great that Cameron can prove all the doubters wrong. It’s clear that there’s an incredibly strong appetite for more Avatar adventures.
