Policía asesinado en Barranquilla

The District Mayor’s Office, the Atlántico Governor’s Office and the National Police offered a reward of up to 100 million pesos for those who provide information that allows the capture of those responsible for the murder of patrolman Héctor Julio Jiménez Merlano, in the Villa Blanca neighborhood of Barranquilla.

“Patrol officer Héctor Julio Jiménez Merlano was going to his place of residence and in the Villa Blanca neighborhood, he observed two suspicious subjects. He stops his motorcycle and draws his firearm, proceeds to make a preventive signal to the individuals and they, without saying a word, rush at the police officer and in a struggle they strip him of his weapon. They impact him with the same”, says the report of the authorities.

Due to this fact, the Metropolitan Police of Barranquilla asks the citizens “to help us with timely information to capture those responsible for these events. Together with the District Mayor’s Office and the Atlántico Governor’s Office, a reward of up to 100 million pesos is offered.

The Dijín investigates this murder in Barranquilla

In the same report, the Metropolitan regrets and rejects the events that occurred on the afternoon of Saturday, July 29, in which the patrolman Héctor Julio Jiménez Merlano was assassinated, due to the impact of a firearm projectile. «We send a message of solidarity to their relatives”.

“To clarify these facts, a special team of investigators from the Dijín has been assigned, which comes from the central level, who, together with an interdisciplinary team, in coordination with the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation, carry out the pertinent investigations to identify and apprehend those responsible of this criminal act in the shortest possible time,” he adds.

Finally, the Barranquilla Metropolitan Police announced that it will provide accompaniment to the relatives of the patrolman. “This act will not go unpunished.”
