The year 2023, just three days away, promises to be very eventful in terms of the car import file and vehicle assembly in Algeria. After the revelations on the brands that will land, let’s now talk about the “halal credit” terms for purchasing these “cars” so long awaited by the Algerians.

After the heads of the Ministries of Finance and Industry, it is now time for the bosses of the banks. It is indeed the director of the Al Salam bank, an establishment that was among the first to launch halal loans in Algeria.

Speaking on the micron of the online channel DZ News, Nasser Haïder, Chairman and CEO of “Al Salam Bank” puts forward several explanations on the procedure to benefit from halal credit for the purchase of cars in 2023.

“With us at Al Salam bank, halal loans for the purchase of new vehicles have never been suspended for several years. The problem was the shutdown of car assembly plants, ”he says.

The first manager of the bank does not stop there. He announces a very imminent “restart” of car purchase credits, scheduled according to him for 2023.

“With the resumption of vehicle assembly plants, we will immediately resume the study of files for halal consumer loans. In short, as soon as the cars made in Algeria are available,” explains Nasser Haïder.

Will imported cars be affected by halal credits?

Now let’s talk about the cars that will be affected by halal credits. Moreover, no later than the beginning of December, the Minister of Industry spoke on the subject.

In an interview granted to the official agency, the first head of the Industry sector Ahmed Zeghdar spoke about the new strategy of his department to facilitate the purchase of cars “Made in Algeria”.

This is a purchase through a “halal” consumer credit which will be intended for all Algerians. On the other hand, the minister underlines that only vehicles manufactured in Algeria concerned by the formula.

“Vehicles produced locally are eligible for consumer credits. Unlike imported vehicles,” he says.

But when will the “made in bladi” cars be available? This is the question that everyone asks, but very few have the answer.

According to statements and forecasts from factories preparing to set up in Algeria, the first cars manufactured in Algeria will not be available before the end of 2023. On the other hand, it should be noted that some factories have already “reignited their machinery”. This is the Hyundai one.

Managed by the TMC company of Zaaroura and located in the wilaya of Tiaret, the Hyundai car assembly plant resumed its activities last October with the presence of wali Ali Bougara. According to him, several hundred vehicles, the New Accent Diesel and petrol car, will be assembled by the end of the year.

In summary, with the start of 2023, certain types of vehicles made in Algeria will be available with halal credit, but with a limited quantity.
