It comes as two other hosts quit the show after being forced into ‘humiliating’ auditions to keep their jobs.

David Eades, Joanna Gosling and Tim Willcox have made voluntary departures after the BBC revealed plans to merge its international and UK news channels.

In a tweet to her thousands of followers, Joanna shed some light on her future.

His message read: “You may have heard before, but I wanted to confirm, that I have decided to leave the BBC and will stop broadcasting on January 26.

“I am very grateful for the kind messages I have received from so many of you.

“I am proud of my career in information. Now is the time for new beginnings.

It has been reported that David has already presented his last show.

Meanwhile, Tim’s last day of work has yet to be confirmed, according to Deadline.

Last week it was reported that more than a dozen presenters could lose their jobs due to a name change which will see the BBC News and BBC World News channels merge.

The move means there will be no dedicated national news service for UK viewers from the spring.

Joanna made headlines last month when she fought back tears as she reported the deaths of three young boys in Solihull.

High profile presenters including Huw Edwards, Fiona Bruce and Clive Myrie are believed to have been spared having to reapply.

The BBC expects to save more than £1million a year by reducing the number of presenters.

The broadcaster hopes to find new roles for some of those affected.
