Paris Saint-Germain went through a pretty roller coaster ride in the 4:3 win over OSC Lille on Sunday. First PSG led 2:0, then they were in the meantime 2:3 behind, only to finally win 4:3. In the very last minute, world champion Lionel Messi sunk a free-kick and saved his team’s butt.

However, the joy of the late triumph was marred by superstar Neymar’s injury. Shortly after the start of the second half, the Brazilian twisted his ankle badly in a duel and then had to be carried off the field on a stretcher.

Slight all-clear for Neymar

Fortunately, the injury shouldn’t be too serious: According to “L’Equipe”, those responsible expect a downtime of two to three weeks. Neymar’s use in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 against FC Bayern is definitely questionable.

However, another topic grabbed the headlines after the game: the explosive performance of PSG technical director Luis Campos.

The Portuguese official was so dissatisfied with his team’s performance that he felt compelled to intervene. Furious, he left his seat in the stands during the game and stormed to the PSG bench.

Campos yells at PSG stars

The technical director yelled at the Paris players and gave them wild instructions. Campos also took on the assistant referee. PSG coach Christophe Galtier could only stand by and watch his boss freak out.

Campos’ performance naturally made waves in the media. “Madness at PSG! The spectators on TV and in the stadium couldn’t believe their eyes. The Portuguese was completely beside himself and started giving orders to replace a Galtier who had been relieved of his duties,” wrote the Spanish newspaper “mark“. “AS”, another major sports newspaper in Spain, saw a “monumental mess at PSG” and “behaviour that many cannot explain”.

After the game, Galtier tried to smooth things over. “There was no interference,” emphasized the coach, who and his team are currently leading the French league table with a five-point lead over Olympique Marseille. “Luis is passionate and absolutely wants to win. That’s not a problem for me because there were no technical or tactical interventions. That’s passion,” says Galtier about Campos’ heated performance.
