This article does not contain spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, although it does reveal some very important facts about the previous movies and Avengers: Endgame.
The moment that many Marvel fans have been waiting for has finally arrived: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is now available on Disney+. This is a very special moment for those of us who have followed the adventures of the most dysfunctional family in the UCM, since it marks the end of its story and the farewell of James Gunn (director of the trilogy) from Marvel.
To put you in context, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1 It was released almost 10 years ago (2014) and was a great discovery for Marvel. Since then, he has tried to approach some of his films in the same way… although the result has been worse than expected. Thor: Love and Thunder is the best example.
If you are thinking of seeing Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and you haven’t had time to review the first two movies and the Disney+ Christmas special, so I’ll tell you five details you need to know so you don’t get too lost. If you haven’t seen the movies, I highly recommend doing so before going to the movies.
Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must assemble his team and embark on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life – a mission that, if not completed successfully, could lead to the end of the Guardians.
The Sovereigns, quite dodgy people of gold
Remember those dodgy golden humanoids from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2? They are an advanced race genetically engineered by Herbert Edgar Wyndham, also known as the High Evolutionary. In fact, you have already seen this garment in the official trailers.
Just remember that the Guardians of the Galaxy, especially Rocket’s bullshit, dedicated various insults to the sovereigns. This costs them a manhunt led by their leader Ayesha, played by Elizabeth Debicki. I won’t tell you more, just keep these people in mind because they are important for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Gamora Returns: MCU Magic, Ride Us!
if you saw Avengers: EndgameYou know that the Guardians of the Galaxy joined the Avengers to fight Thanos. It is important to note that Peter Quill (Star Lord) and Gamora have their love story. Thanos kills Gamora (his daughter) to get the Soul Stone and cause us various traumas that we have not overcome. Star Lord got a little angry and lost his mind.
If you are a bit lost, don’t worry. The UCM works its space-time magic again to rescue characters without too many explanations. The point is that the time travel of the Avengers in Endgame caused him to arrive gamora from the pasta version that never got to know Peter Quill (who still loves her) or the rest of the group that was her family… at least for the present version.

Thor: No More Love, No More Thunder, No More Viking God Bullshit
The last time we saw the Guardians of the Galaxy in the cinema was in Thor: Love and Thunder, at least those who made the mistake of going. It later moved to Disney+. The good news is that you don’t need to see the Thor movie to understand the events of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3since his appearance only served to see the god of thunder in the midst of an existential crisis.
Guardians of the Galaxy: Happy Holidays Special
Don’t underestimate the value of Guardians of the Galaxy: Happy Holidays Special for being a Christmas special, because it is so important for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Like the two previous movies. Maybe not that much, but it matters.
One of the most important facts is that the Guardians of the Galaxy bought the location of Knowhere, the head of a Celestial where the Collector lived in the previous movies. You could say that they make it their headquarters or their base.
New members in the Guardians of the Galaxy group
Another important event that happened in Guardians of the Galaxy: Happy Holidays Special It was the addition of two new members to the group of guardians. We do not know to what extent they will be permanent or temporary signings in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3but it is better that you know them so that you understand why they are there.
The first one is called cosmo, a very famous character in Marvel comics. He is about a dog that Russia launched into space decades ago and who became very intelligent during his adventures in space. And he’s still wearing his astronaut suit!
The second is called Kraglin Obfonteri (played by Sean Gunn) and this one is not new. He is a funny and somewhat clumsy pirate who served under the orders of Yondu Udonta, who passed away after a huge heroic act. Another trauma that many of us have not been able to overcome.
Bonus: Who the heck is the golden slick in the trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3?
His name is Adam Warlock and, played by Will Poulter, and he was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1967. He was baptized as HIM (him in English) by the Fantastic Four the same year of its creation. Its history is quite long, but it is enough for you to know that he gave himself to the hosts with Thor (in his good times) and was on the verge of death.
Upon recovery, he met High Evolutionary. This gave him nothing more and nothing less than the Soul Gem. Later, he tried to confront Thanos and established a friendship with Gamora. His story has more details, but let’s get to the important thing: what are his powers?
- Force and resistance: Their bones and muscles are much denser than those of a human being. He can use his cosmic powers to increase his strength level.
- cosmic absorption: its cells are capable of absorbing and transforming cosmic energy. He gains strength, the ability to fly, speed, a sense to locate space portals, and the ability to project a discharge of cosmic energy.
- Regeneration using a cocoon that can surround you in a matter of seconds. Its operation is unknown.
- His weapons with the Soul Gem and the Karmic Rod, apparently unbreakable.
