The president of United States, Joe Bidensigned a law on Monday that ends the state of national emergency declared by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The initiative has thus obtained the support of the presidential signature after its processing in Congress at the initiative of the Republican opposition. It also means bringing the end of the latest restrictions still in force due to the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus pandemic.

The White House had targeted May 11 as the date for the end of the national emergency, but the Republican initiative brings the decision forward a month.

Biden had expressed his reservations about the law, but finally decided and announced in March not to veto the initiative, approved in the Senate by a large majority of 68 to 23 votes despite the fact that the Democratic Party has a majority in the House.
