Washington.— President Biden is set to run for another four years into his term as early as Tuesday, four years after declaring his candidacy in 2020 in hopes of preventing President Donald J. Trump from “fundamentally altering and to always” the nature of America.

People close to Biden expect him to announce his re-election via video, which would be much like the way he launched his last campaign, in that he used the same format to urge Americans to embrace a different vision for the country and ” remind them who we are.

“I told them that I am planning to run and I will let them know very soon,” Biden said Monday at the White House, in response to questions from reporters.

Biden’s mission will be more complicated this second time, as he will be forced to defend his record while warning about the dangers of Trump’s return.

Although the former president remains the favorite for the Republican nomination, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is also gearing up for a likely run.

A few days after Biden’s expected announcement, some of his main donors have been invited to meet in Washington to hold a financial summit that will start a race against time to fill the president’s coffers.

The meeting, which is expected to take place this Friday, will be a necessary first step in a campaign process that will remain low-key for a year.

That will be quickly followed by the hiring of a staff that can work for Biden outside of the White House: a campaign manager, communications advisers, state campaign managers, pollsters, financial managers, volunteers and more.

Among those being considered to lead the re-election campaign are Julie Chávez Rodríguez, a senior White House adviser and granddaughter of César Chávez, the labor leader. Although as of Sunday afternoon, Biden had not made the final decision on who will run the campaign.

“Running for president for the first time is inspiring, you can make all kinds of big and bold promises, but re-election is when you really get the grade from the American people,” said Jean Psaki, Biden’s former press secretary. , on an MSNBC show this Sunday.
