A 29-year-old is in a pharmacological coma after being brutally attacked by a mob when he was celebrating the victory of the Argentine National Team in Rosario de Lerma, Salta.
Martín Torres has been hospitalized since Tuesday at the San Bernardo Hospital, after having been operated on twice for head trauma.
On Sunday, Martín had gone to celebrate the triumph of Argentina in the World Cup in Qatar in the central square of Rosario de Lerma with his family. Later, the young man decided to go with some friends to the Carpa del Mono Yonar, a complex where dances and recitals are held. The next day in the morning, the young man returned to his house and there began the ordeal for his family.
“He returned home, slept a lot and got up. My dad began to see strange reactions in him and we decided to take him to the hospital,” Jimena, Martín’s sister, told the Salta site Con Criterio.
In the local health center they decided to transfer him to the San Bernardo Hospital, located in the provincial capital, due to the seriousness of the injuries. There he underwent surgery twice.
“My brother had a skull fracture and clots in his brain, he underwent surgery, but they had to perform another surgery. He is currently in an induced coma, ”said Jimena.
His family asks for witnesses who can provide information about Martín’s attackers. “My brother sacrificed a lot to graduate, he had many jobs to cover his expenses and graduate as a lawyer at the University of La Rioja. We need people to help us to be able to sue the perpetrators,” said the young woman.
So far, the family knows that the young man was attacked, at first, inside the dance club and then the attackers waited for him at the exit of the complex to hit him again.
Martín’s family also pointed to his friends who at no time communicated or approached them to provide information on what had happened on Monday morning.
