“Transitions are events that bring about significant changes for those affected.” Such an event is, among other things, starting school – every kindergarten child usually faces the challenge of actively coping with the transition to school age at the age of six.

In autumn 2022, the Gantschier kindergarten and elementary school started a new project that aims to strengthen the cooperation between the two institutions so that the children and parents can be given the best possible support for this important milestone.

The children in the last year of kindergarten are allowed to experience a unit at school every two weeks in small groups. These are designed in a varied way by the third and fourth graders accompanied by their class teacher and the kindergarten teachers. In a playful way, the pre-school skills can be promoted in a targeted manner.

In addition, the kindergarten children get to know the school room environment, rules and rituals as well as the teachers and gradually gain trust.

The elementary school children learn to look at the little ones and develop empathy, understanding and patience. Personal responsibility, independence and self-confidence are strengthened.

We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the good cooperation with the Gantschier elementary school and look forward to many more joint activities in the future.
