O An attack claimed by the NoName group on the Telegram social network paralyzed several official ‘sites’ for a few hours this Tuesday morning.

Among the ‘sites’ affected were the head of state and the Senate, in an action that took place while the Ukrainian Prime Minister, Denys Shmyhal, met with Trudeau in Toronto.

“It is not uncommon for Russian ‘hackers’ to target countries that show their unwavering support for Ukraine, that receive Ukrainian delegations or Ukrainian leaders, so the timing is not surprising,” stressed the leader of the Canadian Government during a joint press conference. with Shmyhal.

Robyn Hawco, a spokeswoman for Canada’s electronic surveillance agency, noted that “it’s not uncommon” for denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks to take place against countries that receive visits from members of the Ukrainian government.

“Although these incidents draw attention, they have very little impact on the systems involved”, assured the official.

The Ukrainian Prime Minister, who is due to travel to Washington soon, and Trudeau, announced this Tuesday the conclusion of negotiations aimed at modernizing the free trade agreement between the two countries, new deliveries of Canadian arms and ammunition to Ukraine, as well as an agreement with the Canadian company Cameco to supply Ukraine with nuclear fuel until 2035.

Ottawa also issued new sanctions against Russians and Russian entities, including those linked to the Wagner paramilitary group and the Russian aviation sector, as well as the Belarusian financial sector.

The Russian military offensive in Ukrainian territory, launched on February 24 last year, plunged Europe into what is considered the most serious security crisis since the Second World War (1939-1945).

The Russian invasion — justified by the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, with the need to “denazify” and demilitarize Ukraine for Russia’s security — was condemned by the international community in general, which has responded by sending arms to Ukraine and imposing Russia from political and economic sanctions.
