Because of the sharing of these two posters, the Angevine is prosecuted by the Angers prosecutor’s office for “public insult towards a constituted body, a civil servant, a depositary of authority or a citizen in charge of a public service by word, writing, image or means of communication by electronic means”. She is summoned next Monday before the criminal court of Angers, in Maine-et-Loire.

In response, the Head of State took the case to court, then filing a complaint against the publicist, and not against the clairvoyant. Michel-Ange Fiori was sentenced at first instance to a fine of 10,000 euros, before he chose to appeal and was sentenced again, this time to a fine of 5,000 euros.
Last December, the conviction was finally overturned by the Court of Cassation, considering that “the incriminated posters did not exceed the permissible limits of freedom of expression”.
