Carlos de Oliveira, manager of Mar-a-Lago and Trump employee, pleads "not guilty" to the charges against him

Carlos de Oliveira, property manager of Mar-a-Lago, former President Donald Trump’s private resort located in Palm Beach, Florida, has pleaded “not guilty.” after being accused by the Department of Justice as one of those involved in the case of mishandling of classified documents. Specifically, De Oliveira was charged with attempting to delete video material from Mar-a-Lago’s security cameras.

According to The Hill news portal, De Oliveira, 56, pleaded “not guilty” in his third court appearance Tuesday, in a Florida state court.

Oliveira currently faces obstruction of justice charges, as well as charges that he made false statements to investigators during the investigation at Mar-a-Lago.

According to information from The New York Times, special prosecutor Jack Smith, who is leading the investigation into the mishandling of classified documents by Trump and his assistant, Walt Nauta, had been investigating De Oliveira for months.

The indictment stated that Oliveira allegedly told another Mar-a-Lago employee that “the ‘boss’ (referring allegedly to Donald Trump) wanted the servers (which had footage from the resort’s security cameras) deleted.” ”.

In addition, Investigators believe De Oliveira made false statements to authorities by denying that he had seen or knew anything related to the boxes of documents at Mar-a-Lago.and the accusation indicates that De Oliveira personally helped move said boxes.

On the other hand, the Department of Justice indicated that the former president Trump acted as an alleged co-conspirator to try to delete audiovisual material from security cameras, and received a new charge under the Espionage Act.

Thus, The accusation against the former Republican president will lead him to face 42 charges for the mishandling of classified documents, which include illegal withholding of government secrets, obstruction of justice and conspiracy. Prior to this indictment, Trump was facing 37 charges.
