MILWAUKEE (AP) — Kerry Carpenter hit a three-run homer and four Tigers pitchers held off the Milwaukee Brewers as Detroit won 4-3 Tuesday night.

Milwaukee led off the eighth with a double, but Willy Adames, Rowdy Tellez and William Contreras struck out.

It was the first time this season the Brewers have lost three straight, including Sunday’s loss to the Red Sox.

Before beating the Brewers 4-2 on Monday, the Tigers had lost four straight with just five runs.

All of Detroit’s runs occurred in the second inning. Carpenter, who was 0-for-12, homered off Eric Lauder (3-2).

The Tigers added the decisive run with two outs. Eric Haase kept them alive with an easy ground ball that third baseman Owen Miller deflected. This brought Spencer Torkelson up to bat, who singled for Javier Báez to score after his double.

For the Tigers, Puerto Rican Javier Báez 5-2 with a run scored. Venezuelan Miguel Cabrera 4-2.

For the Brewers, the Dominican Willy Adames 2-0. Venezuelan William Contreras 3-0 with a run scored.
