Catalina Usme is one of those forwards capable of driving rival defenses crazy: fast, strong, technical, does not give a ball for lost and with an eye for goal.

On Tuesday she received an award for her tenacity when she scored the goal that qualified her for the quarterfinals of the Women’s World Cup for the first time in her history, and FIFA chose her as the player of the match.

However, the player insists that Colombia reached the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand with a view to playing “seven finals”, in reference to the number of games that are played until reaching the final of the tournament.

“This cannot be the ceiling for this team, we have come to play seven finals and we have to continue building the path step by step,” said Catalina, who is already thinking about her next rival, England.

“We are going to look at England in the face and we are going to go out and compete face to face for that final,” he said.
